Hidden messages in Assassin’s Creed 2

For AC2, Ubisoft really have created a much deeper and more involved experience, some of which shows the level of detail of an ARG for Desmond amongst all that rooftop running and stabbing.

Uncovering glyphs prompts a series of visual mini-games to unlock small video snippets and one of these mini-games also had the following morse code randomly printed on one screen:

- . — .–. .-.. .- .-. – . -..- – … .- -.. .- .–. – . -.. -… -.– — .-. .-.-.- … — .. – ….

A quick trip to google and we find it says TEMPLARTEXTSADAPTEDBYMR.SMITH, which then begs the question who is Mr. Smith? Makes me wish I’d written down the earlier binary clue hidden in one of the pictures to see what it said.

Far Cry 2 patch removes rubber bullets

Far Cry 2 is getting a much needed patch to its multiplayer game modes. While previous patches have helped to improve network stablity, next up is a complete rebalancing along with a new hardcore mode.

On their official forums Ubisoft detailed the changes that would come in a ‘wave of patches’ responding to community feedback asking for the multiplayer to be more realistic.

A new damage model will be applied with increased damage for all weapons.
All weapons have been rebalanced on normal mode, and on hardcore mode.
Enemy names will disappear after the spawning invincibility period is over (A shield is displayed above a player’s head for a few second to show that he is invincible).
A new option will allow you to tweak spawning time (but not spawning rate).
A new search option will be available in multiplayer to allow you to find games that are playing on hardcore mode.

It is always good to see a developer responding to critical feedback and opting to address the issues and eagerly await being able to try out the new mode.
